A year has come and gone much too quickly. Life has been full of changes, but one thing has remained constant, our desire to participate in the Great Race.
We begin preparing in May, first by making sure Miss Hathaway (Jane to those who know her) is ready for the journey. Our friend and mechanic Jeff at Mayfair Garage, is making sacrifices to make sure our 5th Great Race will be as successful as the previous four rallies. After Jeff thoroughly inspects her, we will road test her.
The road test will consist of a three day drive from our home in Southern California to Joplin, Missouri. We will make two overnight stops, hopefully the first in Albuquerque, New Mexico and the other in Oklahoma City. We will then participate in a two and a half day rally with about 30 other teams.
Assuming all goes well, we will drive Jane to a friend’s hanger in Jefferson City, Missouri. There she will be looked over once again, and three weeks later she will be shipped to Buffalo, New York, the starting spot for The 2018 Great Race, presented by Hagerty. https://www.greatrace.com.
